Electromechanical Technician program

The Electromechanical Technician Certificate program provides flexible, skills-based training in basic electronics and electromechanical systems. It has been developed for adult learners pursuing basic technician level training through independent study, specifically students who cannot attend college full-time because of work or family commitments. No electronics background is required and there are no academic prerequisites, so anyone can get training in this rapidly-growing industry.

The program covers an introductory curriculum in electronics while also emphasizing mechanical systems. Contents of the program includes Current, Voltage, Resistance, Ohm's Law, Parallel and Series Circuits, Magnetism, Industrial Control Devices, AC/DC Circuits Capacitance, Inductance, Transformers, Transducers, AC Motors & Drives, Inductance process Controls, Semiconductors, Amplifiers, Op Amps, Digital Electronics and PLCs.

The multimedia program presents twenty-four modules of interactive curriculum using text, video, 2D and 3D animations, photos, audio clips and interactive lab simulations. Pre-tests, interactive exercises, sample exams, and online support prepare you for computer-based final exams. The average completion time of the twenty-four training modules is thirty-four weeks of part-time study.

One of the main features of the program is the integration of theory with laboratory experiments and projects. Students who enrol in the program receive a licensed copy of CircuitLogix Pro, which includes both 2D- and 3D-simulation software. The laboratory software simulation package allows students to design circuits, lab experiments and work with electronic equipment as though they were in a real electronics lab.

Students interested in registering for the program can register at any time. Open enrolment allows you the flexibility to complete modules at your own schedule. Typically program completion time is 34 weeks of part time study; however, with prior training, experience, education or more time allocated to the program you may complete it in less time. Non-traditional learners are welcoming the program. More than 20 percent of students enrolled in this Electromechanical Technician program are women, compared with only 2% in our traditional classroom-based electromechanical training program.

The Electromechanical Technician Certificate program is delivered through an interactive learning package. Upon registration students receive a USB containing 24 modules of curriculum, electronics laboratory simulation software; web based supplemental resources, online testing and 1-888-553-5333 (ref: ) tutorial and technical support. A supplemental textbook is also available to you at an additional cost.

Pay-as-you-go registration

With the pay-as-you go registration option you can enrol in the program for as little as $345 which includes all learning materials, laboratory simulation software, user guide and Module 1. Registration for each of the remaining 23 modules is $60/module. You may register for one or more modules at any time.
